Feb 13, 2023 · I'd recommend getting an Arris CM8200 on eBay or someplace similar. I got mine for $40, and it's serving me very well. It's internally identical to the SB8200 that's being recommended by others. Edit: the CM8200 is DOCSIS 3.1, so it'll serve you well on plans up to 1Gbps. It has a good chipset and seems to perform solidly.
