DEX based champions work very well as archers, interestingly enough. A paladin archer is pretty decent, because you can be in melee and shoot. Champion is also a good base class for the Eldritch Archer archetype, because there are many good cleric focus spells that a champion can access and utilize via Eldritch Archer.

I made a post somewhat recently on trying to choose between Cloistered Cleric or Champion for my 2nd PF2e game, and after some responses, as well as personal research on my end, I've settled on the Champion class! Defenders of the innocent, they follow a strict moral code and uphold the tenets of justice and right. In the Core Rulebook, it is noted only characters with a Good alignment can take on the Champion mantle.

In 2e her lore explains that you can serve her by fighting oppression and injustice in your own personal way. In 1e Pharasma explicitly makes no judgment about the justness of any particular death, necromancer or otherwise. Personal opinion as a former 5e veteran playing PF2e after 10 months - the Fighter is the best class in the game. After 26 sessions my Fighter finally went unconscious during a Severe battle. Up until then he has been unkillable and dishing out some huge damage numbers. Of note, that party does not have a Cleric.

On the Stacking bonuses side, Cleric/Champion is awesome if you can get access to the Toil domain, Practice Makes Perfect provides absurd value for a grappler, enabling you to chose to spend a focus point on a failed check for a +3 status bonus. A Status bonus this big will only be compared to 9th level Heroism, it's pretty great.Fighters are able to protect allies fairly decently with opportunity attacks and shields up.
