Original M14 rifles had wood HGs until about Nov. 1960 when they changed to the sloted FG version. The biggest problem with commercial wood hand guards is they are oversized. A friend gave me one off a M1A to see if I could make it work. So after a little cutting grinding and fitting this is what I ended up with.
