Yes, the Steam servers have people playing every day, specially in the evening and weekends is when it's most populated. So is battlefront one. Yeah I just checked steam charts and there are about 500 people playing it right now.

Honestly my experience with the gameplay (while the microtransactions do suck) has still been fairly positive. DICE did a phenomenal job at making a solid Star Wars game. It's just the microtransactions that make me enjoy it less. If it all gets sorted out accordingly then I will be playing this for months to come. Since the servers have been down since 2020, Battlefront Companion won't show your progress or allow you to earn credits. It's entirely dependent on when EA decides to pull the plug or not, based off of how many players there are. Costs money to keep the servers online after all.
